Without volunteers, this event would be nothing. We love our volunteers. Our volunteers love our race. Our volunteers love the outdoors and are mostly passionate members of the Copper Country community.
Thank you those that have volunteered in the past.
We’re once again hoping to wrangle up over 100 volunteers for this year’s Great Bear Chase. These volunteers will do everything. In the fall we have volunteers out creating and maintaining the course, as the season comes closer we have more volunteers testing the course to find any potential problems. As the race day gets very close we send dozens of volunteers out to mark the course, put up fences and prepare all of the registration information. On Friday night it will all come together with hundreds of racers strolling through the Calumet High School with dozens of volunteers making their experience seamless. It continues right into Saturday with volunteers managing every aspect of the race, working in the dark to haul in water and drinks for 600+ racers by sled. It may sound like a lot of work, and it is, but it’s also a lot of fun.
Check out the Volunteer Position Descriptions to get an idea of what each position entails.
Every year our dedicated volunteers come back and help out, they have ownership in this great race and they’re hoping you will join them for next year. Fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you soon with the information you need to know.
