Cloth Bibs and Limits on Quantities

The Great Bear Chase provides racers with high-quality cloth bibs. In order to prevent waste and keep costs down, we base our bib order on the previous year’s registration numbers. This means that unanticipated increases in registration may result in our running out of cloth bibs, in which case paper bibs will be substituted. Register early to ensure you receive a cloth bib. Here are the quantities for 2018:

50km Skiathlon – 100 (max registration for this event is 100)
50km Freestyle – 145
50km Classic – 45
25km Freestyle – 160
25km Classic – 95
10km Freestyle – 60
10km Classic – 45

Age Group Awards

Each year our organizing committee reviews the age group ranges for both genders. Our goal is to roughly equalize the number of skiers in each age group (based on the previous year’s numbers) for fairness and to ensure competitive balance among all age groups. As a result, some age groups are five-year spans and some are ten-year spans. Male and female age groups don’t necessarily match – in many ranges the number of male and female skiers are not the same.
